For around twenty years, music has also been an important part of my work as a filmmaker and videographer.

Although I am not a musician myself, music has always occupied an important place in my creative life. Over the years, I have regularly filmed concerts, performances and musicians, while developing documentary projects connected to different artists and independent musical scenes.

My work in this field includes live concert recordings, music videos, interviews, documentary footage and long-term projects following musicians and bands. As with my work around cinema, I am particularly interested in using moving images to document artists, performances and cultural scenes.

One of these long-running connections is with the French electro-punk band Casse Gueule, whose distinctive universe combines synthesizers, drum machines, French songwriting, electronics, humour and a highly theatrical stage presence. I have been following the band since 2010, filming them live on several occasions and eventually making a documentary about them.

Another long-term project, Rock'n'Roll Girls, grew out of several years spent filming part of the French underground rock and punk scene of the late 2000s. Through concerts, interviews and encounters with musicians, the project became an extensive audiovisual record of a particular independent music scene and period.

More recently, I have also been developing a project around Lighthouse, a band from Rennes formed in 1990. Emerging from the French independent pop and rock scene, the group released its early albums through Rosebud and performed alongside artists including Pulp and Tindersticks before pursuing a remarkably independent career. I first met and filmed Lighthouse in 2023, beginning another audiovisual project exploring the history, music and continuing creative life of the band.

Over the years, I have also directed and edited music videos for different artists and filmed musicians in a variety of contexts, from small independent venues and live performances to more structured audiovisual productions.

My musical interests are deliberately eclectic. Rock, punk and independent music occupy an important place — from David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Throwing Muses and Babes in Toyland to many other artists and scenes that shaped my tastes, particularly during the 1990s.

But these influences extend far beyond guitar music. Trip-hop, electronic music and hip-hop are equally part of that landscape, with artists such as Tricky, Wu-Tang Clan, El-P and MF DOOM among many others.

These references do not define a particular musical territory. Rather, they reflect the diversity of sounds, cultures and visual approaches that have influenced the way I experience — and sometimes film — music. I have also always been particularly interested in music videos and music documentaries as creative forms in their own right, and in the relationship between sound, performance, editing and moving images.

This section brings together concert footage, music videos, documentary projects, archival material and new productions connected to musicians and musical culture.

As with the rest of my audiovisual archive, additional material will be revisited, edited and added over time, bringing together both completed works and images documenting artists, performances and independent musical scenes.
